Attention: CEO, MD or director leading leaders through AI and change

Your people will remember how you led them through this.

How to stay clear-headed and lead well under the heaviest load of your career, without ever having to add another framework to your diary.

The Legacy Leadership Academy is one live 90-minute session a month with Steve Neale, built on the Limbic Performance System. Real practice on your real situations, with a room of peers.

Three decades. 40,000 leaders FT and Goldman Sachs Best International Business Book shortlist UK Best Business Training Award

Your first month is £1. Then only £27 a month thereafter. You can stay as long, or as short as you like. You are in complete control. First Tuesday of every month, 18:00 to 19:30 CET (17:00 to 18:30 UK).

The reality

You are carrying more than the job description says.

If you lead leaders, you will recognise some of this.

The board wants measurable AI results this year. Eight in ten CEOs in one global survey say their own job is at risk if AI does not deliver by the end of 2026 (Dataiku and Harris Poll, 900 CEOs)

Meanwhile, the people you lead are worried about what AI means for them. Fear of losing a job to AI has risen from 28% to 40% in two years, and 62% of employees say leaders underestimate the emotional impact (Mercer, Global Talent Trends 2026)

You have more people reporting to you than a year ago, and fewer managers between you and the front line. Manager engagement worldwide has fallen from 31% to 22% since 2022 (Gallup, 2026)

The last change programme has not finished landing, and the next one is already in the diary.

In the leadership team meeting, everyone nods. The real conversation happens afterwards, in the corridor. In the UK, 45% of employees say they do not feel safe raising mistakes or risks (MHFA England, 2026)

And in the middle of it all, you are making the biggest decisions of your career on less recovery time. 71% of leaders report more stress since taking their current role, and 40% of those have considered leaving leadership to protect their wellbeing (DDI, Global Leadership Forecast 2025)

None of this is a personal failing. We all carry it. It is simply a lot.

So here is a question. If the pressure keeps rising, and the budget for the usual two-day programme has gone, where will your clearest thinking come from?

The diagnosis

Why another programme is unlikely to fix this

Reading another book will not fix it. Attending another two-day course will not fix it. Adding another framework to your toolkit will not fix it either.

Over the last 30 years I have worked with 40,000 leaders in more than 60 countries. They are bright, experienced and capable, and they already know what good leadership looks like. What gets in the way is rarely knowledge. In my experience it is interference.

Leadership Results = Innate Potential − Ego Interference
The Limbic Performance System

Interference is the defensiveness that stops a leader changing their mind in front of the team. It is the reaction that arrives before the thought. It is the silence in the room after you ask, “Any concerns?” Remove enough of it, and trust, clarity and decision speed start to come back. You do not need to install them.

The rider

The rational part of you. A lecture speaks to the rider.

The elephant

The subconscious part. Under pressure, the elephant decides where you go.

Think of it this way. The rational part of you is a rider. The subconscious part is an elephant. Under pressure, the elephant decides where you go. A lecture speaks to the rider, and the elephant carries on. That is why a two-day programme can score 95% on the happy sheet and change nothing on the Monday after.

So the Academy works differently. One live session a month. One idea to practise in your real job. A month to try it. Then a room of peers and a coach to work through what happened.

Research on leadership training points the same way. A review of 335 studies found that it sticks best when it is spaced over time, includes practice and feedback, and is delivered live rather than self-paced (Lacerenza and colleagues, Journal of Applied Psychology, 2017).

This is also the part AI cannot do for you. AI can write the strategy narrative. It cannot make anyone believe it. What AI cannot replace in leadership is the person in the room who people trust. I call the space between what AI can now do and who leaders need to be the Human Gap. Read the free Human Gap report.

What would change in your leadership team if the interference came down?

How it works

One session a month. Real practice, not theory.

What happens in the room

1

Teaching

A short teaching on one idea from the Limbic Performance System, so you leave with one thing to try, not twelve.

2

Practice

Practice in small groups, so you rehearse the difficult conversation before you have it.

3

Live coaching

Live coaching on a real situation from the room, so you get an answer to this month’s problem and learn from other people’s too.

4

One action

One action before the next session, so the work happens in your job rather than in a binder.

The practical details

  • Live online, on the first Tuesday of every month, 18:00 to 19:30 CET (17:00 to 18:30 in the UK).
  • Every session is recorded, and you can watch all previous sessions for as long as you are a member.
  • Between sessions: a members’ community and application support.
  • There is no cap on places.
  • Joining after October? Every session stands on its own, so you can start at any session, and you can watch all previous sessions straight away.

This is for you if:

  • You lead leaders in a large organisation, as a CEO, MD, director or head of function.
  • You are asked to deliver AI and change results through people who are tired or anxious.
  • You have taken on more people, more scope or a restructure in the past year.
  • You notice your energy, patience or judgement slipping under pressure.
  • You want somewhere to think out loud with peers and a coach.
  • You would rather practise than collect another framework.
This is not for you if you want a qualification, a certificate or a quick fix. Expect about a year of monthly practice, and expect it to be worth it.
What you will practise

Twelve things worth practising, in any order

Every session works on one of these. Each stands on its own, so it makes no difference when you join. Here is a taste of what you will find in the room:

01

The 3-word sentence that makes the people you lead tell you the truth sooner.

02

How to make your values show up in a Tuesday afternoon decision, when nobody is watching.

03

What to do in the 10 seconds after hard feedback lands, before you defend yourself.

04

The question that gives a change programme a reason people can repeat without a slide.

05

How to tell when fear, rather than judgement, is making the decision, and what to do next.

06

Why your mood may be the weather your whole team plans around, and how to change the forecast.

07

How to lead people who are anxious about AI and their jobs without handing them false reassurance.

08

The conversation your team keeps avoiding, and a way to open it that lowers the temperature.

09

Why a leadership team can be capable and committed and still defend its silos.

10

How to swap reactive busyness for the few actions that move things.

11

How to lead a team through change while they are still absorbing the last one.

12

What to do with a setback so it becomes learning instead of blame.

FAQ

Questions leaders ask

Do I have to attend live?

Live is where the practice happens, so I recommend it. Every session is recorded, so if you miss one you can watch it later, along with all previous sessions, for as long as you are a member.

Can I join after the first session?

Yes. Every session stands on its own, so you can start at any session, and you can watch all previous sessions straight away.

Can my organisation pay?

Yes.

What if it is not right for me?

You can stay as long, or as short as you like. You are in complete control. There is no minimum term.

What to do now

There are three things you can do.

  1. Do nothing, and the load stays exactly where it is.
  2. Mean to join, and not get round to it, and the next change programme lands on the same shoulders.
  3. Or decide. Your first month is £1.

Click the button, and I will see you in the room.

I’m off to prepare the next session. How about you?
